Veronica Lake. A popular Movie Star

Although a respected screenwriter, Preston Sturgess Paramount persuaded to allow him to direct his next film in selling the script for a dollar. The result was 1940's political satire The Great McGinty, a success for the studio and the beginning of an incredible period of Sturgess. Between 1940 and 1944 Sturgess a series of hits, including some of the greatest movies of all time as The Lady Eve and The Palm Beach Story.

Veronica Lake Constance Ockleman was born in November 14, 1919 (some sources say 1922). She spent her youth in Brooklyn, New York with her mother, Constance and his father, Harry, the captain of a ship carrying an oil company. When Harry died suddenly in 1932 a ship explosion, Constance concerned about her daughter growing up without a father.

Pregnancy with her second child for its affects a large part of 1943; unfortunately, the child lived only a few days. She and Detlie separated shortly afterwards, then married and eminent director lake Andr? E Toth at the end of 1944. Although Lake appeared to be a good actress, especially in comedy and film noir, his career began to disappear quickly after the end of the Second World War. She gave birth to her son De Toth late 1945. Several other films followed, and Lake gave birth to another daughter, born at the end of 1948. At this point, however, Paramount has waived his contract following the release of the romantic comedy is not?

According to the lake biographier Jeff Lenburg, his mother is concerned about Connie's delusional and antisocial behaviour. They were for her to a doctor, where she was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. Her mother did for his appointment from a doctor, but she jumped so often that they stopped trying to convince them to go.

Veronica Lake was the height of his popularity during the war years. His hairstyle is so widely copied by women of the day that war Womanpower Commission a formal request to assist her hair for the duration of the war, to discourage the employment of women to wear a glance - -- -- Boo noises on employment because they feared the capsule would result in more accidents. She complied, and Paramount issued a national news in 1943 with the adoption of a new upswept look.

The public worship of Veronica Lake was not shared by his colleagues. She quickly gained a reputation early in his career as someone who is hard on the plateau. Despite their on-screen chemistry has been widely reported that Alan Ladd was just like her, and Eddie Bracken, his partner in the Star-Spangled Rhythm (1942) says about herself, she was known as "The Bitch "and they deserve the title. His personal life is also far from ideal. On July 8, 1943 her second child, William Detlie was born after tripped on a cable lighting, while filming hours before dawn. He died seven days later, uremic poisoning. Around December the same year his marriage to Jean Detlie ended in divorce.

A year later, she married director Andre Toth, and on October 25, 1945, the birth of their son, Andr? Ichael the Toth III. Meanwhile, his film career was launched in pieces. His film until 1944, hours before dawn, was savaged by the critics and became the first big bomb. A large consumption of alcohol has been taken on the balance of his career, making it increasingly difficult to work, and directors and actors are increasingly reluctant to do so. Paramount has put into oblivion a film after another, the only exception The Blue Dahlia (1946), who with his back Alan Ladd. But the success of the film was not enough to stop the downward spiral of his career in 1948 and Paramount has decided not to renew his contract.

Firstly, given his perfect female appearance, manners, and voice, Venus in the Balance in 1919 graph seems credible. Then Rahu on Algol, explains that life extremes. The leader stressed the title stars - it is a black hole. If the card is launched on these two evil, close to each March and Saturn in the 7th house, she put her four men in the first place (John Detlie) is older than his 12 years, and the second (André of Toth). Even the beautiful Venus can not overcome. Another table of 1922, Venus retro Peregrine Falcon to Antares, which should provide, according to V. Robson, sincere, energetic and capable, but selfish? Unfortunately, Veronica Lake is that anything like that.

The film made a star Alan Ladd. It is a cold-blooded murderer to return to double nightclub owner passage. Secret formulas, Nazis and vicious drivers pop-up in this "film noir" classic based on Graham Greene's thriller. Veronica Lake is the beautiful femme fatale, with Laird Cregar, Robert Preston.

Seiter addressed Laurel & Hardy in their best feature, the son of the desert (and converted to an average of more employment with the Marx Brothers in room service). Tuttle has this classic film noir, and he did well. Based on a novel (or, as the author calls an "entertainment") by Graham Greene, Tuttle made a star of Alan Ladd, and created the first of a series of films co-starring Ladd and Veronica Lake (son fresh, face number). He has been encouraged by a good distribution of character actors: Laird Cregar, Tully Marshall, Robert Preston (early in his career), Marc Lawrence. It is a great little thriller.

One of the greatest movies of all time. Indeed, Sturgess argues that the filmmakers achieve more by producing a laugh that awareness. The artists are not trained to talk politics, so that their efforts on making a statement are often pretentious crappity, shit, shit. On another level, a truly brilliant artist (for example, Stowe), a big difference in the political world.

Surrounded revolutionary Mexico in the mid 1860, this sumptuous historical drama (filmed simultaneously with a Mexican leader expressed as "Furia Roja") stars Veronica Lake as an heir American silver mines were abducted by anti-imperial rebel Arturo de Cordova. The two fall in love, and more consistent with the Cordova fight for the rights of his people.

Zesty comedy with music features Bob Hope increasingly involved in political corruption, shade and fair ladies and senators in Louisiana. Vera Zorina, Victor Moore and Irene Bordoni also stars in the exercise of this political satire with such Irving Berlin songs like "It's a beautiful day tomorrow." 99 min

The main shortcoming of the plot is Veronica Lake. Chandler could not stand and asked her Moronica its lake as a reflection of his acting ability. In all honesty, it is a poorly defined role and his meeting with Alan Ladd in the film is too coincidental.

The number one suspect in the murder, Howard DaSilva. He is the Dapper, elegant owner of a nightclub in Hollywood, but he radiates a threat, you cold chills. His best scene in the film is paid singer Will Wright. Wright is the message that it is better not to come back for more.
